Another Georgia football player was arrested recently.
According to On3 Sports, Georgia wide receiver Rara Thomas has been arrested on two counts of battery and one count of second-degree cruelty to children.
The two counts of battery are both misdemeanors while the one count of second-degree cruelty to children is a felony. Thomas was arrested and taken to jail shortly after 3 a.m. ET on Friday.
Player arrests continue to plague the Georgia football program as it’s had several arrests this offseason. Two Georgia players were arrested on reckless driving charges earlier this month, including star linebacker Smael Mondon Jr.
Offensive lineman Bo Hughley was also arrested for reckless driving earlier this year before getting released from jail. In fact, since January 2023, Georgia has had 24 driving driving citations issued to players.
This latest arrest has people questioning head coach Kirby Smart since players continue to get arrested.
“When is the University of Georgia going to hold Kirby Smart accountable? When are parents of recruits see this and hold him accountable? This is becoming a weekly thing, and it is ridiculous,” one tweet read.
“Kirby Smart needs to be held accountable for a lack of control within his football team. Parents of Recruits should also hold him accountable if he doesn’t fix these weekly issues at UGA and think twice before sending your kid there!!!!!” another tweet read.
“Anyone with a big microphone ready to start asking questions about Kirby Smart’s program?” another fan tweeted.
“At what point does the SEC step in and have the conversation regarding Kirby’s lack of control and leadership in his locker room?” another tweet read.
Thomas is heading into his second season with Georgia. He finished the 2023 season with 23 receptions for 383 yards and a touchdown.
