Welcome to Free Form Friday, a constraints-free exploration of the Bulldog psyche that helps shepherd us all through the period between the end of football season and the beginning of, well, football season. What can we say? We’re a golf, baseball and gymnastics site with a pigskin problem we just can’t kick. Maestro, the theme music:
Your Georgia Bulldogs will begin spring practice in less than two weeks, on March 11th, and will follow a Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday practice schedule for its 15 allotted practice sessions. G Day appears to be set for Saturday April 12th.
When we last saw our intrepid heroes of the gridiron, they were winning the SEC title before falling in the Sugar Bowl to Notre Dame behind a gritty performance from first time starter Gunner Stockton. Since then the Red and Black have added some significant pieces from the high school ranks and transfer portal, and lost some significant ones to graduation, the NFL draft, and that same accursed portal. There was a time when it looked like the 2025 Georgia Bulldogs would look a good bit like the 2024 version. It’s now pretty clear that there are going to be some sizable personnel changes.
Which leads us to the question of the weekend, for all those brave enough to answer it in the comments:
What is the biggest question mark for Kirby Smart’s team as they hit the practice field this spring?
Is it whether Gunner Stockton can truly lead the offense?
Is it rebuilding a receiver rotation plagued in 2024 by drops, legal problems, and general inconsistency?
Is it replacing veteran starters up front on the offensive line?
Is it finding reliable cover men in a defensive secondary that will be without All-American Malaki Starks for the first time in three seasons?
Is it the backup long snapper? Coach Dooley used to worry about the backup long snapper a lot, and it seemed to work for him.
We look forward to your input in the comments, or in the poll below if you’re you know, into the whole brevity thing.
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
