Happy Gameday Eve, Dawg fans. Many of you will be making the trek, whether long or short, to Atlanta today. Be safe in your travels, and remember to bark at anyone you see fit.
Firstly, lets give a shoutout to the UGA women’s soccer team, who drew the no. 1 ranked Florida State Seminoles 1-1. This is the first result (win or tie) against a top ranked team. Goalkeeper Jordan Brown came up clutch with a career-high 14 (!!!) saves. Go Dawgs, kick ‘em.
Pro Dawg Lewis Cine has signed with the Buffalo Bills’ practice squad after being released by the Minnesota Vikings during roster cutdowns. Cine was a first-round pick of the Vikings in 2022 but suffered a gruesome leg injury his rookie season. Here’s hoping he can get his career back on track in Buffalo.
In league news, the new theme song for the SEC on ESPN was released, and it is a reimagined version of the early-2000s ESPN college football tune. This was met with… mixed reviews, though there was likely nothing ESPN could have done that would have pleased fans, who have made the SEC on CBS music synonymous with the conference.
Also, after some speculation this would happen, the SEC announced that schools will be required to issue an injury report prior to all conference games. This report will look like an NFL injury report with its injury designations, with an initial injury report being released Wednesday and a final report released 90 minutes prior to kickoff.
In college football news from last night, Collins Hill High School’s own Travis Hunter dazzled with three receiving touchdowns while playing at an elite level on both sides of the ball. He certainly won the Week 1 Heisman. Shadeur Sanders also balled out with 445 yards passing and four touchdowns. Despite the great play of Hunter and Sanders, Colorado barely hung on to win 31-26 after NDSU’s Hail Mary fell 4 yards short. Without those two, but especially without Hunter, Colorado would have taken the L.
Enjoy your Friday and long weekend, and GO DAWGS!!!
