It happens to the best of us. Somebody in Georgia’s social media department forgot to give the football program’s homecoming announcement a second look before hitting send.
Over the weekend, the Bulldogs tried to get fans hyped for October’s HC game against Auburn. Except it reads like Auburn vs. Auburn which gave folks a good laugh:
“Auburn vs Auburn,” a user cried.
“Taking Auburn to cover I guess………” another tweeted.
“So Auburn is playing Auburn for homecoming in Athens?” a fan asked.
“Why is Auburn playing themselves for Georgia’s homecoming,” another person wondered.
“This graphic has been up for an hour and it’s incorrect,” another user said. “AU vs. Auburn.”
“Funniest thing I’ve seen all week lmao.”

Fans also got a kick out of UGA scheduling a program like Auburn for its homecoming instead of one of the typical bottom-dwellers in the SEC or even an FCS program.
After narrowly missing out on the College Football Playoff last season despite their only loss coming in the conference championship game, Kirby Smart’s Dawgs are looking to get back into the national title picture.
With another year of development and another top-ranked recruiting class, it wouldn’t be a surprise at all to see Georgia climb its way back atop the CFB mountain.
