Joel Klatt still thinks the world of the 2023 Georgia football team.
Even though the team couldn’t get back to the College Football Playoff to defend its back-to-back titles, Klatt thinks that Kirby Smart’s squad still could’ve won it all.
“That’s a team that absolutely could have won the national championship. In fact, they would have been Michigan’s most difficult matchup in the country. But, they didn’t go and Michigan won the national championship. They were No. 1 all season, 29 straight wins. That’s an easy one,” Klatt said, (first transcribed by Saturday Down South).
Georgia went 12-0 during the regular season before losing to Alabama in the SEC Championship Game.
Had the Bulldogs beaten the Crimson Tide, they would’ve gotten in while the Tide would’ve been left out.
With the CFP expanding to 12 teams for next season and beyond, the Bulldogs should be an easy shoo-in for the tournament as long as they don’t screw up.
