Kirby Smart took to the podium today for Tuesday media availability, talking a little Clemson and a little more Tennessee Tech. Some interesting notes, including:
* Discussion of how the defensive staff is managing the “green dot” helmet that lets coaches communicate with one player on the field. Asked if the same player will be doing that every week or if it will change Kirby notes that he ““hasn’t really thought about it.” Spoiler, he’s thought about it. He just doesn’t want to say.
* Injury updates on Joenel Aguero, Warren Brinson, and Mykel Williams. It sounds like none are likely to be out for the long term, but I would be pretty surprised to see anyone against Tennessee Tech who isn’t fully, completely healthy or doesn’t desperately need game reps. There are some tough, physical football games ahead and the last thing we need is to lose valuable starters and contributors against the Golden Eagles of the Tennessee Polytechnic Institute.
* Some thoughts on how Jared Wilson fared in his first game starting at center. In typical Kirby fashion, the bottom line is that “if you’d asked him I think he’d say there’s some things he could have done better.”
* Some comments on why KJ Bolden is perhaps more ready than the average true freshman to step into the heat of SEC competition.
Thanks as always to our good friends at Bulldawg Illustrated for their videography. Please check out their handiwork at every opportunity.
