Good morning, Dawgs. Perhaps you’ve heard, this weekend Georgia lost a regular season football game for the first time in 1421 days. Which means it’s time to start a new streak.
Just to be clear, while I may think the coaching staff has some things to get figured out, there’s no one I’d rather have coaching my favorite college football team than Kirby Smart. Moments like this emphasize why that is:

The Red and Black will get a chance to take out their frustrations on the reeling Auburn Tigers. Georgia opens as a 24 point favorite over Hugh Freeze’s team from the Alabama School for Kids Who Don’t Read So Good.
As you may have heard, we were hating Auburn in these parts before hating Auburn was cool. Just kidding, hating Auburn has always been cool.
Hugh Freeze seems to hate his quarterback situation, but really doesn’t have any great options to remedy the situation. That’s why he’s sticking with Peyton Thorne despite the sixth year senior’s back-breaking late game interception in the Tigers’ 27-22 home loss to Oklahoma. It was Thorne’s sixth pick on the young season. After chasing Jalen Milroe around all night on Saturday, the Bulldog defense should be licking their chops.
Auburn actually had things going offensively against the Sooners, racking up 482 yards on the day. But as Nathan King of Auburn Undercover notes, the Plainsmen committed a comedy of errors in the red zone to let a possible win over a ranked opponent slip away and fall to 2-3.
Finally, on a sad note, RIP to the legendary Kris Kristofferson, who died yesterday at the age of 88. He did so only after a life that included appearing in Sports Illustrated as one of America’s premier multi-sport college athletes, writing for Atlantic Monthly, earning a Rhodes Scholarship, serving as an Army helicopter pilot and being appointed an instructor at West Point (all before the age of 30) and then to shake things up landing a chopper on Johnny Cash’a lawn, saying Janis Joplin, and writing some of the greatest songs ever made, including this one:
Fly free, you magnificent son of a gun. And…
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
