Happy Labor Day, everybody.
While you may have the day off college football news isn’t resting from here until January.
There’s lots of blame to go around after a handful of teams laid giant eggs in their openers. Florida fans have moved into that most despondent of fan moods, the “fire err’body” position:
Let’s keep this simple:
Mullen needed to be fired.
Napier needs to be fired.
Stricklin hired both.Stricklin will have torched approx $50 million donor money in buyouts alone.

Over at our SB Nation sister site Shakin’ the Southland Clemson fans don’t have a lot of confidence that Dabo Swinney can fix what ails his football program.
Former Falcons standout Roddy White has his own theory: the Tigers just have too darn many white dudes at the skill positions. It’s an interesting theory, one I’ll try to remember to ask Carson Beck, Cash Jones, and London Humphrey about.
Back I. The land of functional college football programs, Jordan Hill at Dawgs247 has more about a fantastic performance from the Bulldog secondary this weekend. As Coach Smart said after the game, Joenel Aguero’s injury in practice forced the defense into a lineup it hadn’t used or planned to use. But a combination of veteran leaders (Starks, Jackson, Thomas) was able to help the younger guys and make it work.
For his contributions to a solid defensive effort, Jalon Walker was named the Reese’s Senior Bowl defensive player of week one. It’s a well-deserved honor after his 6 tackle, 1.5 sack performance.
Week 01 of the college football season did not disappoint. The Reese’s Senior Bowl Defensive Player of the Week is @GeorgiaFootball LB @JalonWlaker with 6 tackles, 3 solo, and 1.5 sacks in the #GoDawgs win over Clemson. #TheDraftStartsInMOBILE™️ pic.twitter.com/JX6M71uAxn
