Every Dawg has its day. Today wasn’t ours.
Be that as it may, a handful of ‘Dawgs showed up in a tough spot and gave their all to lead their teammates storming back before coming up just short against the Crimson Tide. Those players are your MVDs, the Most Valuable ‘Dawgs from Georgia’s 41-34 loss to Alabama.
Offense: Dillon Bell. Bell had 5 catches for 100 yards, including a pair of big 4th down conversion catches. But none was bigger than his 67 yard touchdown catch from Carson Beck that very nearly secured a comeback for the ages.
Defense: Dan Jackson. Dangerous Dan had a team-leading ten tackles, including six solo stops, assisted on a tackle for loss, and saved a Crimson Tide score with a heads up interception. Jackson was a big part of bottling up Jalen Milroe and getting the Red and Black back in this one.
Special Teams: Anthony Evans. It sounds a little weird, given that Evans didn’t have any returns longer than 28 yards on the night. But hear me out. Evans handled 2 punts and 3 kickoffs and had only one bobble on a night on which mishandling any of those kicks in a hostile environment could have been the nail in Georgia’s coffin long before Carson Beck’s third interception of the night truly ended things. To my mind the only other real contender here would be Lawson Luckie, who caught the pass to secure Georgia’s only two point conversion in three attempts.
Am I right? Am I wrong? Am I super duper wrong? Feel free to let me know in the comments, and…
Go ‘Dawgs!!!
