One does not simply travel to Kroger Field and emerge victorious in an SEC opener without a complete team effort.
Actually, that’s a complete lie. Georgia did precisely that on Saturday night. Calling what we saw in Lexington half a team effort would require a charitable reading on the situation. Perhaps it’s in the disinterested games like this when a few courageous Dawgs have to step forward and lead the team to victory. In this night that is precisely what happened. And that handful of intrepid leaders are your MVDs, the most valuable ‘Dawgs from……from whatever the heck that was that Georgia did Saturday night against Kentucky.
Offense: Trevor Etienne. Etienne’s 19 rushes for 79 yards doesn’t look that impressive at first glance. Nor does his long running the day being only 17 yards. But on a night when George just never could get things going offensively Etienne was the most reliable weapon in Mike Bobo’s arsenal. Etienne also earns points for coming back from a dinged shoulder in the first half to pick up some tough yards in the second. We’re going to need some more of that this season.
Defense: Jalon Walker. Like Etienne Walker’s stat line (2 tackles, 1 pass defended) looks pretty pedestrian. But Walker was in the backfield pressuring Brock Vandagriff for most of the night. Don’t believe me? Ask NFL pass rush specialist Micah Parsons:
Number 11 for Georgia

Special Teams: Peyton Woodring. Woodring hit two field goals good for six points in total. Georgia won by one point. I don’t think this math requires any lengthy explanation.

Go ‘Dawgs!!!
