Several months ago Georgia wide receiver Sacovie White was arrested after being pulled over by police in the middle of the night and charged with reckless driving. But it appears that his worries are now over.
On Thursday, Athens-Clarke County Solicitor General Will Fleener filed a motion to dismiss the reckless driving and one-way roadway violations he had been charged with back in May. In a statement, Fleener said that the State would not be able to prove reckless driving “beyond a reasonable doubt” if taken to trial and that dismissing the charges were “in the interest of justice.”
“After a careful review of the evidence, including footage from downtown cameras, it is clear the State will not be able to prove Reckless Driving beyond a reasonable doubt,” Fleener said, via The Red & Black.
White was arrested after 2 o’clock in the morning on May 18 of this year. He had reportedly been caught speeding down the wrong way of a one-way street and the arresting officer’s report said that a passenger was partially outside the vehicle.
According to The Red & Black, White is one of nine Georgia football players to be arrested on driving-related offenses in 2024 alone.
But with the charges dismissed, White can now focus on football without this hanging over his head – and with the possibility of a team suspension likely gone as well.
