The most anticipated game of the college football season will be this Saturday.
Alabama will play Georgia in Tuscaloosa and it will be a matchup of two of the four best teams in the country. Each team is 3-0 heading into this game.
Former Florida and South Carolina head coach Steve Spurrier recently gave his pick on who will win the matchup and he’s going with the home team.
“Since it’s at Bama, I would take Alabama,” Spurrier said on Pat Dooley’s “Another Dooley Noted Podcast,” (first transcribed by On3). “Didn’t I read Kirby (Smart) is 1-6 against Alabama or something like that? So they have been the two best, Georgia and Bama, for the last several years. So it’ll be a huge game.”
Spurrier was close with Smart’s record against Alabama since taking over in 2016. Smart is 1-5 against the program as Georgia’s head coach and recently lost to Alabama in last year’s SEC Championship Game.
This will be Smart’s first game against Kalen DeBoer after the latter took over Alabama’s program heading into the 2024 season.
Georgia has beaten Clemson, Tennessee Tech, and Kentucky to start the season while Alabama has beaten Western Kentucky, South Florida, and Wisconsin.
Kickoff will be at 7:30 p.m. ET and ESPN will nationally televise it.
