Good Thursday morning Dawg fans, hope all of you are staying safe during Hurricane Helene as it is starting to get messy out there. The Georgia Bulldogs are now just two days away from the biggest game of the year against the Crimson Tide as more info comes in day by day regarding the game. With that being said, let’s get into some of the top stories heading into this Thursday morning.
Humphreys out vs. Bama
Georgia will be down another weapon Saturday night as Wide Receiver, London Humphreys will be absent against the Crimson Tide due to mononucleosis, initially reported by Dawgs 247. The Vandy transfer, Humphreys made some noise in the season opener against Clemson as he brought in 2 catches for 63 yards and a touchdown. Since then, Humphreys has yet to record another reception as he has received little to no snaps.
Don’t pay, don’t play
The UNLV Rebels are off to an impressive 3-0 start to their 2024 season as Coach Barry Odom has his guys playing good ball. While things seemed to be looking up in Las Vegas, things took a bit of a turn yesterday morning. UNLV starting quarterback, Matthew Sluka announced he would redshirt and sit out for the rest of the 2024 season due to NIL issues. Sluka was supposedly told that he would make 100,000 dollars to play for the Rebels in 2024 but allegedly was only given a one time payment of $3,000 as he seems to believe he will never see the money he was verbally promised. This could lead to many more players opting out who may have similar issues as this could be the initial domino that will cause many others to fall in the pay for play era. Below is Sluka’s announcement on the matter.

Bear intends to hit the portal…again
Last night it was announced by that current USC and former Georgia D-lineman Bear Alexander also intends to redshirt the rest of the 2024 season and hit the transfer portal. It is not yet known the exact reason why Alexander is leaving USC as the Trojans actually have improved their defense quite a bit as this once again probably comes down to money. It will be interesting to see if the Dawgs try to bring back Alexander as he would add some nice depth in that d-line room but at the same time who knows if Kirby wants to bring back a guy who has pretty apparent loyalty issues.
