Welcome to Tuesday, Bulldog fans! But not just any Tuesday, but the last Tuesday of the regular season; a Tuesday filled with promise, goals still ahead, and one also filled with Clean Old Fashioned Hate. That’s right, it is the last Hate Week of the 2024 season. While in the season of family and thanks, be thankful you’re a Bulldog and you can hate the little brother from the Flats.
You know who else hates Tech? Vegas, at least if the football team is playing Georgia. Be responsible out there folks, the kids need new shoes from Santa and mama wants a Balsam Hill this year.
Do you hate that Georgia is playing a regular season football game on a Friday? That Sanford Stadium was to host football games on Saturday only? No matter what UGA AD Josh Brooks may say about getting some exposure, we all know the deposit slip was too attractive to pass up.
The intrepid folks at the Red & Black hate Georgia Tech so much they skipped the weekly position group report cards and put that extra energy into COFH.
There wasn’t a weekly award handed out from Birmingham this week, but a Bulldog did make one of the season awards. Likely first round draft pick Jalon Walker has made the final 5 in the running for the Butkus Award, given to the nation’s best collegiate linebacker.
Kirby Smart hates Tech – maybe not quite as much as when Paul Johnson was running his particular brand of Tecmo, but his dislike for NATS remains strong. Even more so with only 5 days of prep. He probably hates his weekly press conference. At least he was relatively forthcoming with injury news:
- Christian Miller has a shoulder injury, but it is not known how long this will last.
- Dillon Bell was in a boot Saturday, but could be back for the Tech game. The same for Anthony Evans.
- Both Branson and Roderick Robinson dressed Saturday, have been practicing, and could be available Friday. The news is a little more vague for Trevor Etienne.
- And sources say Cobie Young returned to practice in an apparent statement about his indefinite suspension. But he is unlike to play this weekend.
Another tennis season, another Bulldog national champion. Dasha Vidmanova won the NCAA singles this past weekend, becoming only the 6th collegian to win both the singles and doubles titles in their career.
That should get your day started. This week is one more chance to hate Georgia Tech. You can hate the College Playoff Committee later, or hate that we’re playing for an SEC Championship, or hate Mike Bobo’s playcalling, or Glenn Schumann’s tackling drills. Keep the main thing the main thing, and as always…
GO ‘DAWGS!!!
