Welcome to Tuesday, Bulldog fans! After the extravaganza Saturday night, the Georgia Bulldog team has returned to Athens, the frenetic build-up and celebrations are quieting, so we here at Dawg Sports are turning things down. Not gonna lie, we’re mostly turning horns down.
And we’re turning down the opportunity to love the University of Florida. Instead, let’s hate them with the fire of a thousand suns fueled by the fire of a thousand suns. It’s your annual fortnight of hate. Of course we recommend hating Florida all year long, but we understand if you need to compartmentalize and concentrate that disdain for all things orange to game week.
We once again turn to the intrepid folks over at the Red & Black for their perspective on how each Bulldog position group fared in the latest contest. Did we beat the #1 AP team on the road for the first time in program history? Yes, yes we did. Still, I was curious about the grades considering the very large eraser Glenn Schumann utilized Saturday night. That was certainly not overlooked by these writers, because, ho boy, they brought out the big guns.
It was pretty obvious that the Bulldog defense was something special this weekend, with particular attention to the game-wrecking duo of Mykel Williams and Jalon Walker. The folks in Birmingham noticed too, giving SEC co-defensive player of the week to Walker and co-Defensive Lineman of the week to Williams.
Did you wake up feeling the cheesiest? The Football Writers of America seem to think that Georgia woke up in Austin that way. And then went to sleep in Athens that way too. While their commercial seems to have been running forever, I did not realize that the last time the Bulldogs won this same award was under Mark Richt.
I stumbled across this one earlier, and while I enjoyed the UGA parts of the article, there’s a real gem much further down. It centers around the insanity happening to the FSU football program. David Hale (I believe) really encapsulated just how incredible the situation is down there with a a little Robert Johnson Crossroads license.
The dropped passes are frustrating. Post-game, both Kirby Smart and Carson Beck were asked about it. Beck deflected any criticism towards his receivers, instead stating it was a chance to improve.
Is Texas back? They’re back to #5 in the rankings. But no polls required as everyone agrees, Nick Chubb is back. Damnedest of Good Dawgs, that man.
Just because it’s an off week, just because it will probably and hopefully be a slow news week for UGA, doesn’t mean you can’t use this time productively. If you have a honey-do list, or tasks that need doing, that’s fine. Just do them while thinking about jorts should be a choice and not a uniform, and that booger-eating is strongly frowned upon.
Enjoy your day, hate the Gators, and as always…
GO ‘DAWGS!!!
