No, there is no wildly popular pop-culture icon that is a frequent attendee of games.
But as Georgia readies for its second (so far) game this season against Texas, the question begs – are the Bulldogs college football’s version of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Scan your social media feeds any time after a Chiefs win, which is frequent, and you will find two key things – envy that Kansas City won yet another game and an allegation that officials gave the Chiefs a helping hand on the way to another win.
So how does that tie into anything in the Classic City other than former Bulldog and Chief Malik Herring?
It’s that until a recent handful of years ago, the overall landscape of the sport was fine with Georgia being pretty good, but as the Chiefs show, nobody likes a team that wins all the time.
You only need to look at the CFP Rankings. Ohio State’s slap on the wrist for a home loss to an unranked opponent? Low enough to still host a projected postseason game. Georgia losing on the road at Ole Miss? The last time out. There appears to be a faction that wants any excuse to not permit Georgia a seat at the postseason table, and a misstep or two gives those with pull a perfect excuse.
It goes past that, though. Judging by the knee-jerk reactions from Saturday outside Athens, you would like there’s a groundswell desire asking Kirby Smart to apologize for Georgia getting a key break or two…while ignoring the fact that there were missed calls on both sides.
There’s a segment of the college football landscape that is tired of Georgia. That’s what makes the Dawgs being in position for a postseason run all the more sweeter.
Here is your latest reminder that the men’s basketball team means business. Yes, Tuesday’s win against Notre Dame came against a Fighting Irish team that is slumping, but putting away a power-conference foe means something, especially with more eyes on the Hoop Dawgs. If you think the hype is growing now, just wait a week or so and see if this team beats Grand Canyon…

If you are worried about Georgia needing CFP seeding help, cheering for Clemson Saturday may be well-advised. Plus, Clemson keeping Alabama out of the 12-team field only because of former Georgia assistant Fran Brown’s Syracuse team beating Miami would be quite the butterfly effect.

So, should we expect the same Texas team as in October? No, if you ask Malaki Starks
So…will Arch Manning play more under center this time against Georgia. Kirby Smart shares what concerns that could cause.
Go Dawgs!
