Atlanta is the place to be.
Increasingly becoming an interesting tradition is the release of the NFLPA’s annual Team Report Cards. These anonymous report cards give insights into how players feel about all 32 teams, with players ranking categories like the training room, locker room, food and dining, and even team owner. This year, 1,695 players provided the information about their current organizations which not only helps to raise standards for team’s across the league, but also may be used by pending free agents to help decide where they should or shouldn’t go based on the thoughts of their peers.
The good news for the Atlanta Falcons is that they ranked toward the top on this year’s report card and finished in the top 5 for a lot of the categories. I have it broken down below which includes the category and their overall grades.
• Treatment of Families – A
• Food and Dining Area – A
• Nutritionist and Dietitian – A
• Locker Room – A+
• Training Room – B
• Training Staff – A-
• Weight Room – A+
• Strength Coaches – A
• Team Travel – B+
• Food and Dining Area – A
• Head Coach – A+
• Team Ownership – A+
So, reviewing the grades, the Falcons hit it out of the park this year. As mentioned above, with the exception of two categories, they finished near or at the top for most. Meanwhile teams like the New York Jets received an “F” for team ownership and the Cincinnati Bengals received an “F-” for treatment of families. Free agents seeing those grades will certainly take note.
Meanwhile, the Falcons’ worst grades were for their training room and team travel. Knowing how the organization takes these NFLPA Report Cards seriously, I would be more surprised if in the upcoming months the training room isn’t upgraded.
Worth noting, the Falcons were at the top of the mountain when it came to team ownership, head coach, weight room, and locker room. The only head coach who was graded higher than Raheem Morris was a familiar face in Dan Quinn, head coach of the Washington Commanders.
Overall, these report cards may not matter much to fans, but they’re huge for NFL players. And the fact that the Falcons never fell below a “B” grade is a positive sign. The only two teams who seem to have graded better overall than the Falcons are the Miami Dolphins and Minnesota Vikings.
