After hiring Jeff Ulbrich as defensive coordinator on Sunday, the Atlanta Falcons have shifted their focus to finding a new defensive line coach. According to a report from NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo, the team is interviewing Houston Texans assistant defensive line coach Nate Ollie.
Ollie’s NFL coaching career started with the Philadelphia Eagles in 2019, serving as the team’s assistant defensive line coach for two seasons. In 2021, he took the same position on the New York Jets coaching staff where he worked with Ulbrich for one season.
After one year in New York, Ollie was hired as the Indianapolis Colts defensive line coach in 2022. He later joined Houston’s talented staff under head coach DeMeco Ryans. in 2024.
The Texans finished fourth in the NFL with 49 sacks last season. For comparison, the Falcons finished 31st in the league with 31 sacks.

The Falcons fired defensive line coach Jay Rodgers along with defensive coordinator Jimmy Lake, so don’t be surprised to see the team hire someone Ulbrich is familiar with.
