The Atlanta Falcons and Philadelphia Eagles were both accused of tampering during the NFL’s free agency period but the league has yet to dole out punishment. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, a resolution is expected from the NFL this week.
While both teams will likely face some type of penalty, Schefter reported that the Falcons’ punishment for allegedly tampering with quarterback Kirk Cousins could be more severe than what the Eagles get for tampering with running back Saquon Barkley:
“One league source indicated that the Falcons’ alleged transgressions are considered more significant, and the discipline is expected to be more severe for Atlanta,” wrote Schefter.
The Dolphins were fined a first-round pick and a third-round pick for tampering with head coach Sean Payton and quarterback Tom Brady back in 2023. At this point, it sounds like Atlanta could lose a first or second-rounder in 2025.
