The whole season is on the line here, and Penix and London understood the assignment.
If at first you don’t succeed, try again.
When Michael Penix found Drake London in the back of the end zone against backup Carolina Panthers cornerback Shemar Bartholomew, he didn’t hesitate to launch it to the back of the endzone. Then, when it didn’t work because his right foot couldn’t find the turf on the first attempt, Penix didn’t hesitate to go after the exact same matchup.
This time, there was no doubt.

14 unanswered points in the final 1:41 gave the Atlanta Falcons a 24-17 lead as they headed into halftime, but almost just as important, it gave Penix a 12-of-24 stat line with 204 yards and two touchdowns with zero turnovers.
Despite how this game was going to end and how the Falcons season would inevitably go, the biggest thing was making sure Penix is ready to go as they head to the offseason.
Most of his misses have looked chemistry-based and though he has looked impressive, especially down the field, it’s clear that he has a lot to work on to be this franchise’s answer.
But right now, he and WR1 Drake London are doing everything they can to keep this team in the playoff race.
