Since joining the team in 2021, Atlanta Falcons general manager Terry Fontenot has stayed true to his best-player-available draft philosophy. While this strategy has resulted in some surprising selections, the team has yet to draft a bust in the first round.
Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts, wide receiver Drake London and running back Bijan Robinson are among the best players on the team. This trio should be even better now that Atlanta has added two starting-caliber quarterbacks — Kirk Cousins and Michael Penix Jr. — to the roster.
Unlike the team’s three previous first-round picks, Penix won’t be asked to start as a rookie. Many of the Falcons’ other draft picks will likely see the field more than Penix in 2024.
